The expansion of the Abuja National Stadium phases in a new 8,000-seat athletics stand, a refurbished warm-up track, and a rebuilt athletics hall and media centre — all while keeping the existing football pitch and main bowl fully operational throughout construction. The new stand’s sweeping single-tier roof, a cable-stayed canopy spanning 140 metres without intermediate columns, delivers unobstructed sightlines to every seat and full weather protection. The expanded facility brings the stadium into compliance with World Athletics Category A competition standards.
