Positioned on the historic waterfront of Calabar, this arts centre was conceived as a living archive of Cross River cultural heritage. The building’s envelope — a lattice of ceramic brise-soleil panels encoding traditional Efik textile patterns — mediates between interior gallery climate and the humid coastal exterior. Inside, permanent and temporary galleries are arranged around a planted internal courtyard that doubles as a performance and events space, drawing the public into the life of the building every week of the year.
