The extension of one of northern Nigeria’s most revered religious sites demanded both reverence and rigour. The new wings accommodate an expanded congregation of over twelve thousand worshippers while maintaining an unbroken spatial dialogue with the original 1930s structure. Pointed arches, geometric mashrabiya screens, and pre-cast concrete vaulting produce a contemporary Islamic vernacular — technically sophisticated yet unmistakably rooted in the devotional character of the existing mosque and the city it has served for generations.
Key Features
Two new wings providing 12,000-capacity prayer halls for expanded congregation
Geometric mashrabiya screen wall system cast in pre-cast concrete panels
